James Battershill James Battershill, General Manager

During his time at KAP James has worked on most of the major issues facing Manitoba farmers over the last decade, including rail transportation, business risk management, environmental regulations, drainage, safety concerns and flooding.

Prior to assuming his current position 2013, James was KAP's policy analyst. He led research and policy work that saw successes in many of these areas – such as the delay of the provincial coal ban and a federal order in council that ordered the railways to carry more grain.

He was also instrumental in helping producers set up the Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers Association to lead research and market development for these crops in the province.

One of James' current initiatives is to position KAP and the industry to adapt to a rapidly changing agricultural landscape. Climate change, larger farms, land prices, changing demographics and land ownership are some of the issues he is working to address.

James holds a global political economy degree from the University of Manitoba.
